Off to Animal Kingdom this morning. We got there before opening so we go to hear the "wake-up" at the front gates and then the Holiday opening at the Tree of Life with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto. Very cute.
The masses then headed to the safari so what did we do... we joined them of course! Great animal spotting as always. Got held up for about 10 minutes but it wasn't due to animal in the road... a truck broke down. Go figure! We actually saw both families of rhino, the male and female lions were posing, the cheetahs were up walking, baby elephants were on display as were giraffes, ostrich, mandrils, and a multitude of deer-like-creatures (DLCs for short). The driver told us the best time to ride is actually when it is raining, she said the animals love it. Not so sure I would love it but hey, maybe we'll give it a shot later this week (yes, that is code for it is supposed to rain some more while we are here).
When we got off the safari, we went to the Gorilla overlook... and got what was probably one of the best photo opportunities we've ever had there. One of the large males had taken one of the jugs they are given to play with down in to the stream and was using it has a seat so he didn't have to get anything but his feet wet. He had taken some of the leaves and breakfast stuff with him and was just sitting in the rushing water (there was a water fall feeding the stream) enjoying his meal. (that photo is on Mom's camera, too far away for the iPhone)
A quick walk along Pangani Trail so Lincoln could see the fish. You'd think this child didn't have two aquariums at home... he can't get enough of looking at fish.
From there we went to Tusker House for our breakfast. Quite a yummy buffet and good characters. Donald was outside only posing for the pre-eating sell at your table photos (disappointing). Once inside though Mickey, Goofy and Daisy came by to visit. Lincoln even got up and danced with Daisy during one of the musical "events". Bonus - Goofy made Dad and Michael pose for a photo too... sadly that is also on Mom's camera so won't be making an appearance here... unless I can steal her camera for a short while.
Back to the hotel for nap... which is going on right now.
Stay tuned, tonight we do dinner at Whispering Canyon and head over to Hollywood Studios to see the Osborne Lights... they have millions, Michael has hundreds... but I think he is striving to get there!
